  • Wim Filemon – based in The Netherlands Global Director R&D steel and aluminum rolling

    Experience: 32 years working for Quaker Houghton. 31 years in rolling.

    Since 2021 I’m also leading globally Quaker Houghton’s sustainability pillar “Innovating Together for a Better Tomorrow” to get to a more sustainable portfolio for all product segments in all markets we are in. The RollOilFree II project fits very well with our aspirational sustainability goals. Having the right mix of experienced partners in this project, I envision that we will be able to deliver an innovative, more sustainable lubricant for steel rolling and ways to implement this successfully in the field.

  • Bas smeulders – based in The Netherlands Senior Research Scientist

    Experience: 29 years working for Quaker Houghton.

    After my chemistry degree I received my PhD at the University of Twente in the field of rheology. During my career at Quaker, later Quaker Houghton I have built up experience in corrosion, fire retardance, tribology, cold rolling lubrication, test method development and modelling. In the RollOilFree II project I look forward to working with our partners in the field and to learn from them. I am also excited to see a new lubricant concept in action in the steel cold rolling process.
